LED Nav Lights

November 21, 2004: Today I started working on mounting my navigation led and landing light assemblies. I built a set of These LED Nav lights from Killacycle.com..  I highly recommend these kits for their ease of assembly. I decided on the shaped kit with the hole in the middle for the landing light to shine through. I didn't purchase the landing lights with the kit. Instead, I found a set of self contained PIAA driving lights that have a more focused beam yet retained the compact size.
Here is a picture of the 004XT style lamp.

Terminated Wingtip Wiring

I designed a small bracket to mount the wiring connectors for the Nav and Landing lights at the wingtip.  I fabricated the bracket out of 1/2" x 3/4" hardware store aluminum.  After sanding and cleaning them, I primed them.  I terminated the ends of the Nav and Landing light wires with Molex connectors and labeled them.  When the primer was cured I assembled the brackets and attached the connectors.  The black wire tie is a reusable type that will provide strain relief to the wires coming from the lights.  The photos are a before and after.  I attached the bracket to the strobe light housing.
